U.S. Tour

The picture above is from the U.S Tour cast of  The Book of Mormon with Mark Evans as Elder Price and Christopher John O'Neill as Elder Cunningham.  These two on the stage form an unstoppable duo with their unique and hilarious chemistry that really makes the production what it is.  When I found out that the production was coming to Boston, I rushed to the computer and bought myself a ticket.  Since I've seen the show, I can tell you that Mark Evans' voice is always on key, on pitch, and has one of the best tones I've ever heard.  Also, O'Neill's portrayal of the role, "Elder Cunningham", couldn't have been more spot on.  With his constant invasion of everyone's body space and his moronic movements, he really made it fun and amusing to watch.

The Creators

The image above is of Robert Lopez (Left), Matt Stone (Center), and Trey Parker (Right) showing off the awards that they won at the Tony Awards.  The three men are all the creators of the Broadway spectacular, The Book of Mormon.  Trey Parker and Matt Stone are also the creators of the hit show, South Park.  Robert Lopez is a co - creator of the musical, Avenue Q.  The three men are very pleased to have been nominated 14 times and to have won 9 of those awards.  For a brand new musical, that is wildly impressive.  2 years later, the musical is still riding high and selling out every night.

CBS Video

Irreverent Book of Mormon

The link above is to a CBS video talking to the creators of The Book of Mormon; Trey Parker, Matt Stone, and Robert Lopez.  During the video, they talk about the success the musical has been having and a little bit about the plot.  After talking about all the great things, the interviewer asks Parker and Stone if any groups or individual people have been offended by the musical.  Stone replies that they saw one lady throw her playbill on the ground after the performance.  However, Parker and Stone found it to be a comical experience.

Introduction

For my topic I will be discussing everything that has to do with The Book of Mormon musical, mostly about what goes on onstage but a little bit of what goes on offstage also.  I chose this topic because I've seen the Book of Mormon twice, one on Broadway and one in Boston, and both performances were fantastic.  I would consider myself a musical person and I've seen many musicals.  In my opinion, the best musical out there right now is The Book of Mormon.  It’s comical, has talented actors, beautifully written pieces of music, fantastic dancing, and many more.  It’s as close to perfect as a musical can get.
By choosing this topic I hope to inspire people to go buy a ticket for a magical experience.  If they don’t want to do that, then they can buy the soundtrack.  I bought the soundtrack and I can honestly say that I listen to it for fun all the time.  However, the soundtrack doesn't include all the songs in the show.  So if you want to get the full experience, buy a ticket and go see The Book of Mormon today!
